Position Description

The 3D Design Manager plays a key role in the communication between the 3D Modeling team, the Design Director, and Falcon’s team in Orlando. They provide guidance all 3D Modelers under their area of responsibility. Their primary role is to develop, organize and communicate information between each group involved in a project.

Secondarily, the 3D Design manager will assist the 3D modelers in the design, development, and production of 3D models to communicate an accurate interpretation and ultimate realization, of the overall creative vision of the project. They will typically utilize Maya, Rhino, and Sketchup but should possess the ability and desire to learn new design software packages. They will also manage revisions for complex projects, provide creative and architectural design production and leadership to the project team for multiple, complex projects with little to no supervision. This position requires excellent communications skills, and the candidate should be comfortable and confident.

The 3D Design Manager will coordinate directly with the Design Director and Falcon’s team leads in Orlando to guide the 3D Modeling team in the generation of visual 3D concepts for various entertainment projects. This also involves supporting and managing the detailed articulation of that concept through each design and production stage. Additionally, the 3D Design Manager will be responsible for overseeing the production deliverables within the given guidelines and time constraints.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead production and schedule status reviews.
  • Ensure all assets produced by the team are up to a proper level of finish and optimized for the intended use
  • Act as a liaison between 3D Modeling team, Design Director, and Falcon’s Orlando office
  • Provide guidance and direction to the modeling team in the interpretation and implementation of drawing specifications and requirements.
  • Take a leadership role in the aesthetic development of a wide variety of entertainment and themed architectural projects.
  • Maintain and oversee proper organization of digital assets
  • Oversee and build 3D models for interior and exterior spaces featuring Falcon’s Beyond design concepts and products.
  • Visualize building concepts in various graphic mediums.
  • Oversee and create custom shaders and 3D models on a project-by-project basis.
  • Oversee and create high quality renderings using a variety of software tools.

Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • At least 4 years of experience in a 3D Design Management role at a professional studio is required.
  • Excellent communication skills to relay ideas, methodologies, and schedules, within the 3D Modeling Team, Design Director, and Falcon’s Orlando office
  • Degree in computer animation or architectural visualization is preferred.
  • Superior 3D modeling skills.
  • Proficiency in Maya and Rhino.
  • Proficiency in SketchUp and 3DS Max is a bonus.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Substance Painter, and Substance Designer.
  • A keen eye for detail, composition, and visual narrative
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with internal team, partners, vendors, consultants, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail
  • Ability to develop, design or create new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products, including creative and technical contributions
  • Utilization of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
