Position Description

The 2D Design Manager plays a key role in the communication between the design team, the Design Director, and Falcon’s team in Orlando.  They provide guidance for all 2D Designers under their area of responsibility. Their primary role is to develop, organize and communicate information between each group involved in a project.    

Secondarily, the 2D Design manager will assist the 2D designers to design, develop, organize, and communicate complete and accurate Conceptual, Schematic, and Design Development production packages.  They will also manage revisions for complex projects, provide creative and architectural design production and leadership to the project team for multiple, complex projects with little to no supervision.  This position requires excellent communications skills, and the candidate should be comfortable and confident. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Lead production and schedule status reviews.  
  • Act as a liaison between 3D Modeling team, Design Director, and Falcon’s Orlando office 
  • Gather and organize design information and effectively communicate this information between customers, partners, vendors, consultants, and other external sources. 
  • Develop and exchange design solutions that will facilitate the integration of client, designers, and vendors requirements. 
  • Provide guidance and direction to the creative team in the interpretation and implementation of drawing specifications and requirements. 
  • Review and manipulate electronic files received from clients, partners, consultants and/or vendors. 
  • Take a leadership role in the aesthetic development of a wide variety of entertainment and themed architectural projects. 
  • Create custom illustrations and renderings as required  
  • Create detailed plans, elevations, and schematic diagrams as required 
  • Oversee and execute the production of drawings and presentation packages  
  • Maintain and oversee proper organization of digital assets


Job Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree or comparable experience, with 4 years of experience working as a Design manager.  
  • Excellent communication skills to relay ideas, methodologies, and schedules, within the 2D Design Team, Design Director, and Falcon’s Orlando office  
  • Experience with software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Sketchup. 
  • Knowledge of interior design, architectural master planning, entertainment design, and theme parks. 
  • Familiarity with architectural and scenic materials and construction methods. 
  • Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals and can storyboard or translate ideas to designers and develop innovative design solutions  
  • Knowledge of experience design, brand development and creative process  
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with internal team, partners, vendors, consultants, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail 
  • Ability to develop, design or create new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products, including creative and technical contributions 
  • Utilization of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems 
  • Fluently operate a personal computer and use of Microsoft Office software programs efficiently. 
  • Must be able to handle multiple interruptions and adjustments to priorities throughout the day.  
  • Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish the work 
  • Excellent memory and organizational ability, to set priorities, organize workload, handle multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.  
  • Should be comfortable and confident working in a fast-paced environment with multiple conflicting deadlines.
