Position Description

The 2D Concept Designer is responsible for supporting the 2D Design Manager and Design Director with visually representing their design direction for our master planning, media pre-production, special venue and attraction designs. Working under the direction of the 2D Design Manager, this position is critical to the correct interpretation and ultimate realization, of their creative vision. The 2D Concept Designer also supports the production of each detail that makes an award-winning entertainment experience.

This position involves working on multiple projects to meet tight deadlines. The 2D Concept Designer may need to implement quick revisions to match the Management team’s requests. The position requires software training in the Adobe Creative Suites software, specifically Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. They should be familiar with image compression, file correction, and optimization techniques.

The 2D Concept Designer will interpret the given creative direction and generate the visual concepts for various entertainment projects. It also involves supporting the detailed articulation of that concept through each design and production stage. Additionally, the 2D Concept Designer will be responsible for generating their production deliverables within the given guidelines and time constraints.

The 2D Concept Designer must be self-driven, operating effectively with minimal oversight - yet welcome collaboration and feedback from other team members. They must be emotionally secure to respect differing perspectives and embrace discussion regarding the created artwork. Strong communication skills are a must, with a high emphasis on articulating creative ideas and expressing one’s opinions clearly and in a straight-forward manner.

Essential Functions:

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and project charettes
  • Create custom illustrations as required
  • Create plans, elevations, and schematic diagrams as required
  • Execute the production of drawings and presentation packages
  • Maintenance and organization of digital assets
  • Remain cognizant of budget and schedule criteria
  • Coordinate closely with 2D Design Manager and Design Director to meet project goals and deadlines

Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must have related field or comparable experience, with 2 years of experience working as a 2D Concept Designer.
  • Experience with software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Sketchup.
  • Knowledge of interior design, architectural master planning, entertainment design, and theme parks.
  • Familiarity with architectural and scenic materials and construction methods.
  • Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals and can storyboard or translate ideas to designers and develop innovative design solutions
  • Knowledge of experience design, brand development and creative process
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with internal team, partners, vendors, consultants, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail
  • Ability to develop, design or create new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products, including creative and technical contributions
  • Capacity to keep up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to the position
  • Utilization of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Fluently operate a personal computer and use of Microsoft Office software programs efficiently.
  • Must be able to handle multiple interruptions and adjustments to priorities throughout the day.
  • Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish the work
  • Excellent memory and organizational ability, to set priorities, organize workload, handle multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
